The Fireside Chat is a nutrition series developed to meet the nutritional needs of students by WKU Health Services and WKU Restaurant & Catering Group. Students gather around the fireplace in WKU Health Services for a casual discussion about food led by the Registered Dietitian for WKU Restaurant and Catering. A healthy snack is provided with a cup of hot chocolate. This series occurs during October through February each school year.

|October 23rd||Weight Loss & Metabolism, What's The Connection?||Looking at ways to lose weight in a healthy way and understanding the role that metabolism plays with weight loss/gain|
|November 13th||Eating On The Go||Ways to get halthy meals in during a busy day; healthy snacks; ideas/tips for different types of students i.e., commuting students, students that work and students that work and students with packed/odd schedules. Including barriers to have access to certain foods and the expense of healthier foods. Includes a two week recipe/eating plan for students on the go.|
|November 27th||Eat This, Not That||Tips to offer you better choice options to assist you through holiday eating and the importance of understanding labels so that you can decide for yourself whether to eat this, not that. Utilizing the popular slogan/philosphy from Men's Health Magazine.|
|February 5th||Should You Be Gluten Free?||What is a gluten free diet? What is gluten and the benefits of a gluten free diet. What are reasons that someone may need/want to be on a gluten free diet and what are options available for this type of diet.|
