Office Student Worker:
This position requires the student to answer phones, make appointments, make copies, and do miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the Office Associate, Assistant Director, Exercise Coordinator, and Fitness Coordinator in the Health & Fitness Lab.  This position requires that the student have excellent communication, people, and computer skills.  The Office Associate will evaluate the student at the end of each semester.  Pay increments will depend on the evaluations, and years of service.  All student workers must fill out a student employment expectations and guidelines contract prior to beginning employment.

Group Fitness Instructor:
The Group Fitness Instructor is responsible to teach a safe and effective group fitness class in the dance studio and/or Preston pool to WKU students, faculty and staff. Instructors must be able to effectively instruct class and design routines for those classes. The applicant must be a current Western Kentucky University student, must have fitness knowledge, personal fitness history, ability to follow directions and perform the above duties in a friendly and nurturing manner.  Must hold a current group fitness instructor certification from a nationally recognized fitness organization (i.e. AFAA, ACE, Fitour, AEA and ACSM.) and have a current CPR and First Aid certification to apply.  All student workers must fill out a student employment expectations and guidelines contract prior to beginning employment.

Health & Fitness Lab Student Worker:
The Lab worker works under the direct supervision of the Exercise Coordinator.  Responsibilities for this job include learning all exercise testing protocols and service methodologies under the supervision of the Exercise Coordinator.  Once the skills are learned the Lab worker assists in the provision of Lab services.  This person is also responsible for learning the front office procedures as well as designing bulletin boards and other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the Exercise Coordinator or Assistant Director. The Exercise Coordinator will evaluate the student at the end of each semester. Pay increments will depend on the evaluations, and years of service. All student workers must fill out a student employment expectations and guidelines contract prior to beginning employment.
Personal Trainer:
The personal trainer’s role is to educate the client about their body, aid in identifying muscle groups, and illustrate the proper methods in which to work those groups.  The trainer should be concerned with the safety of the client and should be responsible for providing continuous educational information throughout the course of each training session.  All personal trainers of the Health & Fitness Lab must posses the following minimum requirements: At least one year personal training experience is preferable, Certification from a nationally accredited organization such as American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), America Council on Exercise (ACE), National Strength and Conditioning Association

Weight Room Attendent:
Represent the Raymond B. Preston Health & Activities Center by utilizing tools and information to increase member knowledge of fitness as well as other programs provided through the Health & Fitness Lab. Develop and maintain professional relationships with members by providing personal attention every shift to all participants through a proactive approach (know and use member names, approach members and provide assistance / guidance and make an effort to acknowledge all members in the room) Clean and maintain cardiovascular and free weight equipment.  Be punctual and ready to work at the start time of the scheduled shift.  Be able to instruct members on correct position and body alignment to prevent injuries. Attendance at all meetings and authorized trainings are mandatory.
