Dr. Phillip Coleman
Associate Professor - Information Systems
Office: GH 216
Prior to entering full-time university life Mr. Coleman was the Director of Operations and Telecommunications at two municipal utility companies where he supervised the Electric and Water transmission/distribution and Telecommunications. His most recent telecommunication accomplishments include helping to design and optimize a wireless Metropolitan Area Network to include ressearch, marketing and financials. Past telecommunications experience includes assisting in the design, implementation and marketing of a synchronous optical network (SONET), high capacity data circuits and high-speed Internet. Additionally Phillip has extensive online training education experience where he has taught over 50 online classes in the last 5 years using WebCT, Blackboard, and Outlook Newsgroups.

Mr. Coleman is an active member of Kentucky Community and Technical College System technology management committee. Additionally he consults in the training of faculty and staff for a local community college in multiple areas of technology. Other areas of interest include advising Connect Kentucky, a governor appointed task that is charged with providing high-speed Internet access to all Kentucky residents by 2007 and working with a local utility company to consider high-speed Internet to its customers. Mr. Coleman currently teaches Principles of Management Information Systems, Online Training Foundations, Wireless Networking and Server Administration. Phillip retired from the military in 1992 as a Chief Warrant Officer.
