Bio
Marie Guthrie earned her undergraduate degree at Western KY University (Theatre and English), her MA from Western KY University (English), and her PhD from the University of KY (English). From 2003-5, she served in the Peace Corps in Moldova, where she taught at Aleccu Russo University in Balti. She is also an actor and stage manager with local community theatre groups.
Teaching Philosophy
Her teaching philosophy is based in part on Huston Smith’s definition of Zen: “Infinite respect for all things past; infinite service to all things present; infinite responsibility for all things future.” She believes that the study of literature helps us to ask and answer the fundament question “What does it mean to be Human?”
