What are the advocacy organizations for gifted and talented young people?
State Organizations. Become a member, and you will not only become a part of an advocacy group, but you
will also get useful information on parenting gifted young people. For Kentucky, you
can contact, KAGE — the Kentucky Association for Gifted Education.

National Association for Gifted Children. NAGC has a new Parent Associate membership that allows parents to receive Parenting
for High Potential magazine for $25.00. You will receive four issues a year plus have
the opportunity to be a part of an international network of parents and professionals
working to promote gifted education.

Council for Exceptional Children. This site provides information and resources about children with exceptionalities, including those who are gifted and talented.
SENG: Supporting Emotional Needs of the Gifted. Focusing on emotional needs, SENG provides insightful information and articles. The FAQ section is particularly helpful.
What workshops are available?
We believe education is strongest when parents, educators, and students work as a team. In keeping with this philosophy, we invite all parents to attend seminars on gifted children and their educational needs. Parent seminars are held during the first three Saturdays of Super Saturdays. In addition, special speakers are brought to campus from time to time.
The Berta Fund for Excellence brings in an expert each fall who specializes in social-emotional needs of gifted children.
Where can I find print and video resources?
The Center for Gifted Studies houses a resource library for parents and teachers. Resources are checked out or used in The Center on an ongoing basis. Visit the Resources page of The Center’s website for a variety of links and bibliographies of student, parent, and educator texts on gifted education.
In addition, The Center has produced a video entitled Gifted Middle School Students Tell Their Stories. Are gifted middle school students prepared for high school? What encourages their learning? What stifles it? A panel of young people openly and honestly “speak out!” This is a must see for parent meetings, professional development sessions for educators, as well as for classes preparing teachers. This 18-minute video is accompanied by a guide instrumental for leading discussion. Price: $50. Video Order Form
