Renewal 3
Notes by Kyrt Seijal
Given my position stuck on the ceiling frozen with fear, the defeat of the dead wrapped thing came as a relief to me, as being killed while clinging to the ceiling like a fly would not be the most honorably death I can imagine. Once we managed to gather up our senses, we sent Addabar ahead to scout along the tunnel? unfortunately, the tunnel lead back to the main temple, not exactly a resounding victory in our search.
As we filed out to the temple to discuss our next steps, we heard what sounded like metal on stone strikes. Though it came from the second floor, we thought it might have been our dwarf, maybe from a hidden compartment on the second floor. When we sent Addabar ahead, we were greeted with the sudden sounds of metal on flesh, coming around to find that the rather large bard had been practicing with his returning spear, and had practiced his way right into Addabar.
Once we had THAT little mess cleared up, we decided to check the only door we hadn?t so far, the third floor door in the temple, the one without any clear way to get there. A little work with the cleric?s spells, and the others (the silly people without a way to climb walls) finally got across. At the T-Intersection, we took a left. The room was rather large and bare, with only one other door at the other end. Preparing for a surprise entrance into the room after hearing muttering, we were assaulted by a fishy little bastard. The scalehead managed to poison the annoying little mage and myself before we blew his ass off the wall he was climbing.
Once again we prepared for entrance, and moved into the room. The room was rather gruesome, containing a large amount of corpses that seemed to have undergone lobotomies. Past these was a dwarf sitting on a throne, spewing something in dwarvish. Our resident dwarf stepped forward and started to converse with him, while I looked around the room, using some of my innate abilities to take a look at the magical fields weaved through the area. After a discussion with the annoying little mage, we determined that the dwarf was under some rather strong enchantments, and thought he might be under some sort of gaes. The circle in the center of the room also emanated strong magic, and we piled into the room, encouraging the barbarian to try and break the circle. When he struck it, he disappeared, and soon after the dwarf rose to challenge us, shattering a strange sphere in the corner of the room.
Cirlyn dashed over to play with the glass, and I tested my energy on the circle, hoping our loud friend wasn?t gone for good. Soon, however, we found ourselves embroiled in combat, the dwarves facing off, blows clanging off armor, while the mage and bard wrestled with a strange humanoid creature. I provided support wherever I was able (by a distance) and we were soon joined by the barbarian. The shadow soon fell, and then the mage performed an odd little trick with a lightning bolt, zapping both himself and the dwarf, killing the dwarf but coming out brand new. After we sorted out the various finds on the bodies, we determined the dwarf was our target, and the mage filed him away in his head.
We decided to investigate the other room at the T-intersection, and found it infested with mold. Addabar moved in to investigate, and was soon attacked by said mold. Our friendly mage decided to handle it with a fireball?which promptly caused the already unstable roof to collapse. The old man and the gnome barely made it out before the rock came tumbling down. As I write this now, we have decided to rest, barricading ourselves in the T-intersection, and by my guess, it is now Renewal 4, and my watch is over.
