WKU has more full-time, permanent sales faculty than any other University in the United States. All of our courses within the major and minor in sales are taught by department faculty.  In sum, our faculty bring decades of experience in a variety of marketing and sales fields to the table.  From this experience, both past and current, we are able to bring real-world experience to the classroom.
 
Our Sales Faculty include:
 
  Lukas P. Forbes, Ph.D.  (Center Director)
Dr. Forbes is the Director of the WKU Center for Professional Selling and Associate Professor of Marketing & Sales.  He has published and presented a variety of papers within the fields of sales and services marketing, and is a member of the Editorial Review Board for the Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management, the leading academic sales journal in the world.  Prior to joining the WKU Faculty in 2003, Dr. Forbes worked in a variety of positions within the automotive, HVAC and printing industries. He currently teaches courses primarily in the area of sales and services marketing.  In 2003, he received the teaching award for the Gatton College of Business & Economics at the University of Kentucky, and in 2007 won the same award at Western Kentucky University.  He holds a B.S. from the United States Military Academy at West Point, an M.B.A. from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and a Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky.  For more information you may contact Dr. Forbes at his email or at (270) 745.2993.
 
   Craig A. Martin, Ph.D.
Dr. Martin is currently an Associate Professor of Marketing.  Prior to joining the WKU faculty in 2001, Dr. Martin worked in the fields of financial services and telecommunications.  Dr. Martin currently teaches courses in the area of sales and marketing.  He has won a teaching award at WKU.  He holds a B.S. and M.B.A. from the University of Southern Indiana and a Ph.D. from the University of Memphis.  For more information you may contact Dr. Martin at his email or at (270) 754.5707
  Ronald E. Milliman, Ph.D.
Dr. Milliman is currently a Professor of Marketing. Dr. Milliman specializes in integrated marketing communications, personal selling, sales management, direct marketing, and business to business marketing. He has over thirty years of business experience, including sales, sales management, and direct mail. He was owner of a radio station, and a wholesale distribution business. He is often called upon as a consultant to numerous national and international firms.   He holds a B.S. from Eastern Michigan University and an M.B.A. and Ph.D. from Arizona State University.  For more information you may contact Dr. Milliman at his email or at (270) 745.6358.
  J. Richard Shannon, Ph.D.
Dr. Shannon is currently the head of the Department of Marketing and an associate professor.  Dr. Shannon specializes in personal selling/sales management, marketing ethics, sports marketing, and retailing.   Chris Derry
Mr.Derry is the WKU Department of Marketing & Sales "Sales Executive-in-Residence."  He brings over 30 years of experience in selling, beginning in his father's Drug Store as Sales Manager, then as a registered sales representative for a leading financial services firm, as founder and President of a sales coaching firm, regional director for three Asset Management Firms, founder and president of a Public Policy Think Tank, and co-founder of a Louisville-based Hedge Fund.  Mr. Derry holds a BS Degree from the United States Air Force Academy, and an MBA from Vanderbilt's Owen School of Management.
