Appeals Process

Process for Requesting an Appeal of Academic Regulations

The academic regulations of the Gordon Ford College of Business may be found in the WKU Catalog, the Gordon Ford College of Business Student Handbook, and on the GFCB web pages (http://www.wku.edu/gfcb). These regulations were developed by the departments and the GFCB to assure that the educational objectives of the departments, GFCB, and WKU will be obtained by the students. These academic regulations have been approved by the department (where applicable), the College Curriculum Committee, the University Senate Curriculum Committee, the University Senate, and the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

The Gordon Ford College of Business Admissions and Appeals Committee (Appeals Committee) hear requests for deviation from College requirements and make recommendations to the Dean concerning the disposition of the appeal. In addition, this committee reviews appeals of academic discipline regulations that have been appealed to and reviewed by the academic discipline. This committee is composed of one faculty member from each academic discipline and the Associate Dean. The Associate Dean serves as chair of this committee.
Students wishing to appeal regulations should send a written request to:

Gordon Ford College of Business Admissions and Appeals Committee
Western Kentucky University
445 Grise Hall
1906 College Heights Blvd #11056
Bowling Green, KY 42101-1056

This request should include the name, student identification number, address, phone number, and e-mail address of the student. It is important to identify which specific academic requirement is being appealed and why an exception is warranted in this case.

Students will be notified of the decision of the committee via e-mail, telephone, and/or mail as soon as a decision has been rendered. Students who wish to pursue further appeal should consult the catalog or contact the Office of the Registrar for information concerning appeals to the Committee on Credits and Graduation.

Students may initiate the appeals process via e-mail to gfcb@wku.edu provided the information requested above is provided.
