Admission Requirements

We now offer three great options for someone wanting to earn an MBA degree. We have Full-time, Online, and Professional MBA options. Applicants must select one.

FULL-TIME MBA (Fall Admissions only) and ONLINE MBA (Fall and Spring Admissions)

The Full-time option is a lock-step one-year program starting in the Fall and completing at the end of the Summer. The Online option is a part-time program allowing working students to take up to 6 hours per semester.

Students seeking admission into either the FULL-TIME MBA or the ONLINE MBA program at the Gordon Ford College of Business must meet ALL of the following requirements:

  1. An official copy of your GMAT score taken within the last five years, showing a minimum overall score of 500 and
  2. A minimum 3.5 “Written” GMAT score and
  3. An undergraduate GPA of at least a 2.5 on a 4.0 scale. You need to supply an official transcript from a regionally accredited college or university to verify the completion of your 4-year undergraduate degree and your GPA.
  4. In addition to the requirements above, you must have a “GAP” score minimum of 1050 (undergraduate GPA x 200 + GMAT total score). The GAP score will be used to rank applicants for admission when seats are limited.
No score may fall below ANY of the stated GMAT, Written GMAT, GPA and GAP minimums.
  5. Your current resume clearly showing your years of work history and job levels included in those years. You may include any other activities or information on your resume which should be considered when judging your qualifications for admission to our WKU MBA program.
  6. One (or more) professional reference letter(s) (hard copies) verifying your employment history and supporting your skills and abilities as being appropriate for success in our WKU MBA program.
  7. A letter stating why you wish to complete an MBA including specifically how you hope it will improve your career. You should specify whether you are applying for the Full-time or the Online option.

PROFESSIONAL MBA (2-Year, Alternate Saturdays Program – Fall Admissions only)

The Professional option is a lock-step program starting in the Fall and completing after coursework in two Fall, two Spring, and two Summer terms. Students graduate at the end of the second Summer term.

Students seeking admission into the PROFESSIONAL MBA program at the Gordon Ford College of Business have somewhat different admission requirements:

  1. Years of mid to upper management and/or upper-level professional work experience. The Professional MBA program is reserved for those who might qualify for an “executive MBA” program at another university. Professional MBA students are expected to bring a wealth of business experience into their courses and will move through their program as a group.
  2. Copy of most recent resume clearly showing your years of work history and job levels included in those years. You may include any other activities or information on your resume which should be considered when judging your qualifications for admission to our Professional MBA program.
  3. An official copy of your GMAT score taken within the last five years
  4. An official transcript from a regionally accredited college or university to verify the completion of a 4-year undergraduate degree and your GPA.
  5. At least two professional reference letter(s) (hard copies) verifying your mid to upper-level employment history and supporting your skills and abilities as being appropriate for success in our Professional MBA program.
  6. A letter stating why you wish to complete an MBA including specifically how you hope it will improve your career. You should specify that you are applying for the Professional MBA option.

For Professional MBA admissions we will compute a GAP score comprised of your undergraduate GPA + GMAT total score + your years of work history that qualify for consideration in the Professional MBA program. The GAP score will be used by the Professional MBA Admissions Committee to rank applicants for admission when seats are limited.
