STUDY ABROAD SCHEDULE

December 28, 2005 (wed)-- Meet at Nashville Airport at 12:30 pm CDT at the Delta check-in counter. Delta #493 Nashville to Atlanta (2:13pm/4:25 pm)
Dinner in Atlanta Airport. Delta to Amsterdam, Netherlands
December 29, 2005 (thur) -- Arrive Amsterdam and transfer to KLM flight to Kiliminjaro Airport, Tanzania. Arrive at 9:00 pm and transfer to Arusha (20 miles). Overnight Outpost B&B or similar.
December 30, 2005 (fri) -- Rest Day in Arusha at New Safari Hotel downtown.
December 31, 2005 (sat) -- Depart after breakfast for drive to Lake Manyara National park. Overnight at Migunga Forest Camp.
January 1, 2006 (sun) -- Drive to Lake Natron. Wlak to Engarasero waterfalls. Dinner and overnight at Lake Natron Camp.
January 2, 2006 (mon) -- Full day at Natron. Overnight at Lake Natron camp.
January 3, 2006 (tues) -- Drive to Serengeti National Park via Sonjo vilage and Wasso. Overnight at Ikoma bush camp.
January 4, 2006 (wed) -- Full day game drive in the Serengeti National Park. Overnight at Ikoma bush camp.
January 5, 2006 (thurs) -- Visit Ngorongoro Crater via Oldavai Gorge. Dinner and overnight at the Crater Rim View Hotel.
January 6, 2006 (fri) -- Empakai Crater and hike. Dinner and overnight at the Crater Rim View Inn.
January 7, 2006 (sat) -- Full day tour of Tarangire National Park. Overnight Outpost Lodge Bed and Breakfast, Arusha.
January 8, 2006 (sun) -- Full day game drive in Arusha National Park. Optional canoe trip. Overnight Outpost Lodge Bed and Breakfast, Arusha.
January 9, 2006 (mon) -- Rest day in Arusha. Overnight Outpost Lodge Bed and Breakfast, Arusha.
January 10, 2006 (tues) -- Arusha city tour, urban and local analysis. Overnight Outpost Lodge Bed and Breakfast, Arusha.
January 12, 2006 (thur) -- Zanzibar tour. Overnight in Hotel International, Zanzibar.
January 13, 2006 (fri) -- Zanzibar tour. Overnight in Hotel International, Zanzibar - Bed and Breakfast.
January 14, 2006 (sat) -- Free day. Overnight in Hotel International, Zanzibar - Bed and Breakfast.
January 15, 2006 (sun) -- Transfer to Zanzibar airport. Fly to Dar es Salaam. Overnight in Hotel Peacock, Dar.
January 16, 2006 (mon) -- Urban tour of Dar. Overnight in Hotel Peakcock, Dar.
January 17, 2006 (tue) -- Late check out. Transfer to Dar airport in the evening. KLM flight departs Dar at 11:00 pm to Amsterdam.
January 18, 2006 (wed) -- Transfer in Amsterdam for NW flight to Detroit and then to Nashville. Scheduled arrival at Nashville Airport around 4:00 pm. Collect baggage and tour officially ends.
STUDY ABROAD COURSES
GEOG 475 and GEOG 510 -- Geography of Tanzania (3 credit hours):
Analysis of the cultural and physical landscapes of Tanzania. Topics included cultural frameworks, transportation and tourism, environmental degradation, agricultural and urban impacts, regional imbalances, physical landscapes, and the impacts of globalization.
Professor: Debbie Kreitzer.
GEOG 280 -- Introduction to Environmental Science (3 credit hours, General Education Category D):
The emphasis of this course is on the basic elements of environmental science, including how people interact with their physical environment. Student analyze local and regional variations in the physical and cultural environment and present ideas on how the local people have adapted to create their own "sense of place."
