- The Department is developing its Winter and Summer term programs for 2008 with an analysis of the Mayan Yucatan region, including several important Mayan sites (details viewable online.
The Mexico Yucatan program cost will be approximately $1,900, not including winter term tuition and some meals. Students must enroll for 3 hours of course work (winter), with an additional 3 hours of independent study available for summer programs.
Independent study requires the development of a research project under the supervision of the participating faculty that addresses an aspect of sustainable development, land-use management, resource use, park management, biosphere reserves, or other similar topics that fit with the program themes and places visited.
Graduate students will enroll in Geography of Yucatan (Geog 510) for 3 credit hours.
- Bahamas Geology (January 2008) Study Program
The Bahamas program, directed by Dr. Fred Siewers, will be offered again this coming Winter term 2008.
The Bahamas program cost approximately $1400, not including winter term tuition. Students enrolled for 3 hours of course work. Independent study required the development of a research project under the supervision of the
participating faculty that addresses an aspect of the geology of the Bahamas, or other similar topics that fit with the program themes and places visited.

- Eastern Mediterranean(May-June 2008) Study Program
The Summer 2008 Study Abroad program will visit Western Turkey (Istanbul and Izmir), several Greek Islands (Naxos, Santorini), Athens, northern Italy (Venice and Verona), and
Slovenia (Ljubljana and Bled). Tentative dates are May 13 - June 7, 2008. Program fee will be approximately $4000 (all inclusive), depending on exchange rates in
