The John D. Minton Graduate Student Award
for Outstanding Contributions to Western Kentucky University
2000 Recipient: Alan Glennon -- Department of Geography and Geology

We are very pleased to announce that Geosciences M.Sc. candidate Alan Glennon has been chosen as the first-ever recipient of the John D. Minton Graduate Student Award for Outstanding Contributions to Western Kentucky University.
This new award is designed to embrace the broader dimensions of scholarship as outlined by Ernest Boyer: discovery, including basic research; integration, emphasizing interdisciplinary development; application, focusing on the solution of problems as well as connecting theory with practice; and teaching, transmitting knowledge to others. The award recognizes the graduate student's extension and application of discipline knowledge within and beyond the University.
We are very proud of both Alan and that the Geography and Geology Department has produced the first award recipient. Please take a moment to give him a warm and very deserved congratulations.
