    Larue County was formed on March 4, 1843.  The county is 263 square miles and was named after an early settler, John LaRue.  The county seat for the county is in Hodgenville.  The first settlers came in the 1780's and the first permanent settlement was founded in 1781 near present day Hodgenville.  Abraham Lincoln was born in what became Larue County on February 12, 1809.  Larue is mainly an agricultural county dealing primarily in  corn.
