Hart County was formed on January 28, 1819, and is located in the south central part of the state. The county is 412 square miles in size and the county seat is Munfordville. The first settlements in the county were located near the present day city of Horse Cave in 1794. The primary cash crop for the county is burley tobacco. Agriculture and tourism are the major economic activities for the county.
