    Hardin County was formed in November of 1792 and is located in the west central part of the state of Kentucky.  The county is 616 square miles and the county seat is Elizabethtown.  The first permanent settlement was a fort called Severn’s Valley in 1780 near present day Elizabethtown.  One of the features that can be seen in Hardin County is Fort Knox.  Corn is the primary agricultural products of the county.
