GEOL 405G Paleontology
CONTENT: This is a basic course in paleobiology, including the nature of the
fossil record, preservation, basic factors and theories relating to the origin and
development of living systems and the process of evolution, the species concept,
systematics, and paleoecology. Major invertebrate taxa with a significant fossil
record also are studied. Laboratory work includes the examination,
description, and classification of fossil specimens. Prerequisite: GEOL112
and 114, and BIOL120-121, or the permission of the instructor, and graduate
standing. 4 hours.
