This course provides a general overview for non-science majors by combining
the physical and historical aspects of geology. There is no laboratory credit
associated with this course. Topics discussed include rocks and minerals,
natural resources, landforms and surface processes, oceans, internal Earth
processes, plate tectonics, environmental geology, geologic time, and an
introduction to the Earth's history. Students seeking a laboratory experience
in geology are advised to enroll in Geology 111 and 113. Geology 102 is offered
Fall, Spring, and the occasional Summer. This courses fulfills General Education Category D Science (no lab credit), but does NOT provide any credit for the major or minor in Geology. This course can be used as a substitute for GEOG 100 in the Meteorology and Climatology track in Geography.
