In Dr. Antonsen's undergraduate fieldwork course (FLK/ANTH 399: Ethnographic Research Methods) students take part in an out-of-class ethnographic photo scavenger hunt, referred to as a "shootout." Everyone meets late morning on a Saturday at the Pioneer Log Cabin on campus (and gets a little silly), receives a list of shots to gather over a period of several hours, and then sets out to do on-the-spot ethnographic photo documentation. In class on a later date, the class spends time reviewing photos they shot and discussing the experience, critiquing themselves and each other along the way.
