Community Farmers Market & Food for All Community Garden

This summer, I was the intern with the Community Farmers Market and Food for All Community Garden. I worked hands-on with both places, participating in gardening and harvesting, as well as doing participant observation by sitting with vendors at the market.
On one memorable, whirlwind day, I taught approximately 150 children about herbs at the Boys and Girls Club. Another day had me picking two hundred and eight pounds of tomatoes single-handedly when I only meant to check on the cantaloupe plants. My work was helpful for me in deciding my future career path—hopefully finding a position that would allow me to work with people, teaching them about food through hands-on learning.
