Devin Payne

"From fascination about my family lore, to trying to grasp shape note singing, to the first time I heard someone play the saw, to potluck dinners, my experiences have directed me toward more learning and this program."

 

Educational Highlights:

Devin earned a B.A. in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from the University of Louisville. While there she was an active contributor and editor for Goodwill, a Louisville-based youth culture zine. She was actively involved in the greater Louisville community too. She's helped organize multiple local events, such as the Buy Local First Fair.

 

Next at WKU:

Devin is excited about the intersection of her varied interests that Folk Studies provides. She wants to learn more about historic preservation and later apply her skills to projects in Louisville and surrounding areas.

 

On the Inside:

Devin is a Louisville girl through and through. She was born and raised there, and her mother, grandfather, and great grandfather were born and raised nearby. Devin and her boyfriend own a 102 year-old shotgun house in the St. Joseph's neighborhood of Germantown in Louisville they are fixing up together. Devin and her dog, Cole Pepper, enjoy hiking, camping, kayaking, and other outdoor activities.
