WKU Fly Fishing Programs

Welcome to the WKU fly fishing website. Fly fishing is one of my favorite outdoor activities and I am pleased to be involved with offering many instructional programs to our students and community members.

There are three primary program areas we offer:

  1. Courses (for credit)
  2. Workshops (non-credit)
  3. Travel Program (for credit and non-credit)

These programs are different in many aspects, but they all have a common goal of helping you enjoy the great lifetime leisure pursuit of fly fishing.

WKU American Traveler Fly Fishing Montana (Summer 2014)

We had a great time fly fishing the beautiful waters near Missoula, Montana last summer (2013) and caught some wonderful trout (brown, rainbow, cutthroat, brook, cutbow, and even one bull trout that we promptly released.

We experienced a great community, awesome food, inviting downtown historic district. All around - a good time had by all.

In Fall 2014, WKU will offer a fly fishing class in a non-summer term for the first time. This class will meet throughout the semester and take a trip to Missoula to fly fish during the week of fall break.

Stay tuned as we plan for future fly fishing adventures and courses. We hope you will be able to join us.

Feel free to contact me Dr. Raymond Poff if you have any questions or if you would like to discuss a custom adventure, workshop, or course for you, your family, friends, or company.
