RECEIVING YOUR STUDENT AID REPORT (SAR)

You will receive your SAR from the central processor four to six weeks after you submit your FAFSA.  If you included an email address on your FAFSA, whether you filed online or sent the paper FAFSA, your SAR will be sent to you via email. If you do not receive a SAR after 6 weeks, call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-433-3243.

The federal processor analyzes your FAFSA information to determine an Expected Family Contribution (EFC). Based on a federally mandated, uniform system, EFC is the amount of support that you and your parents can provide toward your educational costs.

When you receive your SAR, review the information for accuracy. If there are no corrections to the SAR, simply maintain it for your records.  If corrections are necessary, you have a couple of options:

1. You may make corrections on your SAR, sign the SAR (both student and a parent signature is necessary for dependent students), and send it to the processor at:

Federal Student Aid Programs
P.O. Box 7023
Lawrence, KS 66044-7023

or

2. You may make corrections on the web. You must have a PIN in order to access your record. This PIN also serves as your signature.

For additional information, see the "Making Corrections" link to the left of this box.
