The WKU Department of Agriculture works with the city of Bowling Green to recycle the leaves from the city collection. The recycling process results in a compost/mulch material made 100% from the leaves. The material is used for mulching flowerbeds and gardens. The proceeds are split between the Ag Department and the city. 75% GOES TO AG DEPARTMENT SCHOLARSHIPS and 25% goes back to the city.
Returning for 2011 is sawdust/manure. It comes from the new dairy facility. The cows live on a pack made of sawdust and it is mixed twice a day. This material is used mostly for gardens.
