Sorority History:

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. A sisterhood of more than 260,000 predominately Black college educated women, the Sorority currently has over 900 chapters located in the United States, England, Japan, Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Republic of Korea. The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization's Five Point Thrust of:

 Economic Development

 Educational Development

 International Awareness and Involvement

 Physical and Mental Health

 Political Awareness and Involvement

The Sorority was founded in 1913 by 22 students at Howard University. These young women wanted to use their collective strength to promote academic excellence; to provide scholarships; to provide support to the underserved; educate and stimulate participation in the establishment of positive public policy; and to highlight issues and provide solutions for problems in their communities.

Chapter History:

The Eta Zeta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta was founded on March 14, 1970 at Western Kentucky University by fourteen phenomenal collegiate women. These fourteen charter members, also known as the WANDS (WE ALL NEED DELTA) had been functioning together since March 1969 to get a chapter started at WKU. These willing young women began their journey by approaching the Dean of Student Life with the idea of starting a chapter on Western's campus, but the Dean told these ladies there was one sorority already on campus and there was no need for another one. These ladies determined with their minds made up for Delta fought for what they believed in "WANDS" and in 1970, the chapter to be known as Eta Zeta was finally established.
