Valarie Phelps is a Bowling Green native. She also earned both her Bachelor of Arts in English and Master of Arts in English Literature at Western Kentucky University. She has focused her studies on Graphic Novels and Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. Her thesis titled “The Pedagogy of Graphic Novels” and a conference paper titled “The Mother-Daughter Bond and History in Wide Sargasso Sea” can be viewed on Top Scholar. She is a full-time teacher with English as a Second Language International on WKU’s campus and teaches English 300 online part-time for the WKU English Department. When not saving the world from listless wordage she enjoys crocheting and watching off-beat comedies.
