Sigma Tau Delta: The International English Honor Society
Chartered in 1964, Western Kentucky University’s chapter of Sigma Tau Delta/ The International English Honor Society has been an active part of our Department of English for nearly half a century. Its purpose is to recognize high student achievement in the study of English language and literature. Among other benefits, members may compete for Sigma Tau Delta scholarships, present their work at the annual Sigma Tau Delta scholarly convention, submit materials for publication in The Sigma Tau Delta Rectangle and The Sigma Tau Delta Review, and apply for internships with major publishing companies.
A candidate for membership must have completed a minimum of two college courses in English language or literature beyond the usual requirements in freshman English and must have a 3.2 grade-point average both in English and overall coursework.
For additional information, please contact the chapter sponsor, Walker Rutledge (walker.rutledge@wku.edu). The website for Sigma Tau Delta International is www.english.org.
