GOLDENROD POETRY CONTEST
Goldenrod is the English Club's annual poetry festival in which students submit up the three poems for consideration. After submissions are turned in, the English club will narrow the poems down to ten finalists. The poems will then be submitted to a guest poet for final judging. The guest poet provides all ten finalists with a workshop and focuses specifically on their submitted works.
2014 was the tenth anniversary of Goldenrod, and the event took place on Tuesday, February 18th with guest poet Matt Hart. In honor of the tenth anniversary, English Club decided to have 11 finalists instead of the usual 10. See the list of finalists here.
The 2014 Goldenrod winners were:
1st place: Ashley Coulter
2nd place: Kate Warren-Westbrook
3rd place: Richard Heyne
In 2013, we were fortunate to have Nickole Brown as our guest poet! The English Club hosted an event on March 19, where Nickole gave a spectacular reading. You can view the 2013 Goldenrod winners here.
