My name is Chris Wedding and I am a senior environmental science major, biology/chemistry minor, honors student at Western Kentucky University. My study interests in the environment have led me to study in Costa Rica and Panama, Central America. In addition, I have helped lead a mission trip to Tijuana, Mexico. Based on my rewarding experiences there and my drive to learn and to become fluent in Spanish, I decided to study in Segovia. Furthermore, I love living immersed in a different culture; it can teach one so much about oneself and about humanity in general. The art, architecture, and monastic cultures courses also greatly appeal to me, and the directed study option allows me to continue to develop my knowledge in my academic major while soaking in European culture and sites. With the fluency in the language gained there, I will be better equipped to help the local Hispanic immigrants to the Kentucky area. There are several options for volunteering near here and I hope to help these organizations upon return. | |
