Hi everyone. My name is Katie Schultz, and I'm from Naperville,
Illinois, which is a suburb of Chicago. Though currently, I also live in
Atlanta because my parents moved there when I came to college. I attend
the University of Kentucky, where I am a junior majoring in Broadcast Journalism
with a minor in Spanish. After debating for several months, I finally decided
that I wanted, and NEEDED to study abroad for a semester. I came to the
conclusion that I wanted to go because several of my friends have spent
semesters abroad, and have come home declaring that it was the best thing
they could have ever done, and that they can't wait to go back.
Also, my parents urged me to go because they know what an incredible
experience living within a different culture can be. In addition to wanting
to go, I realized I needed to go because this may be my only opportunity
to spend three months making friends with the students in our group, living
with a host family, traveling, studying, and learning a lot about myself
in the process--all in a totally different environment than what I'm used
to. I'd be crazy to pass up a chance like this! Admittedly, I'm nervous
to go, but I get more excited everyday thinking about the incredible adventure
that is in front of me. |
