Ambitos Feministas. Volumen 2
The editors of Ámbitos Feministas, the multidisciplinary journal of Feministas Unidas (http://feministas-unidas.org) invite unpublished critical essays that explore Feminist issues in Spanish, Spanish-American, Luso-Brazilian, Afro-Latin American, and U.S. Hispanic and Latino Studies (literatures, cinema, art, gender, and cultural studies).
Essays in Spanish, Portuguese or English, need to conform to the most recent versions of the MLA Style Manual and the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, between 17-25 double-spaced pages in length, including all notes, as well as the Works Cited. Submissions will be subject to peer review.
A current membership to the coalition Feministas Unidas is required of all authors at the time of submission and must be kept until the end of the process. Visit

Letras Femeninias Special Issue Summer 2012
The editor of Letras Femeninas welcomes proposals for the Summer 2013 Special Issue.
Proposals should be sent by e-mail to Carmen de Urioste (carmen.urioste@asu.edu and carmen.urioste@me.com). They should contain the following information:
-Draft outlining the topic and content of the proposed special issue (up
to 200 words);

Editorial Committee for the special issue. Proposed members of the
editorial committee must have agreed to serve before the proposal is
submitted and must be good standing AILCFH members. There should be enough
reviewers to allow at least two reviews of each paper;

Name, telephone, and e-mail of the contact person;

Language: Spanish and/or English
Due date to receive proposals: January 15, 2012
The proposals for the Special Issue will be evaluated by the AILCFH Executive Committee. A decision will be made by February 1, 2012. The Special Issue final materials must be submitted to Letras Femeninas by February 1, 2013.
Technical details will be shared with the special editor upon approval of the proposal. Contributors to the Special Issue must be members of the AILCFH. The editor of Letras Femeninas reserves the right to reject Special Issue papers, should they be considered inappropriate for publication in the journal. Colloquium on the Americas: Food & Foodways in the Americas 13th and 14th of April, 2012 Mercyhurst College
We are soliciting papers from any discipline on topics discussing the
peoples of the Americas and how they perceive/relate to food and foodways.
This colloquium is an open, interdisciplinary conversation about the
economic, political, cultural, demographic, religious, and philosophi-cal
aspects of food production, preparation, consumption and cul-ture, as well
as how food is represented in the literary and visual arts. Topics could
include (but are not limited to) discussions of heritage foods,
Agribusiness, the safety of foods, GMOs, food as artistic inspi-ration, the
hospitality industry, sustainable food communities, and hunger in the Americas.
Please submit an abstract of 300 words with a cover letter including your
name, academic affiliation and the proposal?s title by
January 9, 2012 to Christina Riley Brown, Mercyhurst College
(crileybrown@mercyhurst.edu) as an e-mail attachment, either as an Adobe
Acrobat (.pdf) file or in a format compatible with Microsoft Word. To
encourage participation from all who attend, we are asking that all
communications be deliv-ered in English. The program will allow for papers
of 20 minutes, followed by a period of questions.

Encrucijadas globales: Redefinir España en el siglo XXI Universidad de Auckland, 11 al 14 de abril de 2012
El objetivo consiste en proponer un marco que permita ampliar el debate en torno a las
representaciones contemporáneas de los desarrollos culturales y políticos que se han producido
en las últimas décadas y que definen a la España de hoy tanto en sus aspectos internos como en
un sentido global.
Las principales áreas temáticas propuestas incluyen: Perspectivas locales-globales; Conexiones
europeas, transatlánticas y transpacíficas; Reconfiguraciones de España en el mapa global;
Política memorialística; Repensar el pasado: 1992 20 años después; Multiculturalismo;
Neoliberalismo y neocolonialismo; España y la sociedad global del espectáculo; Industrias
culturales en la edad global; Cultura popular; Lengua e identidad; Hispanismo global; Tecnología
e identidades culturales en la edad de la información. A título orientativo, una relación no
