WKU offices in Bowling Green will open at 10 a.m. Friday. Classes Friday remain canceled and campuses in Glasgow, Owensboro and Elizabethtown/Ft. Knox remain closed Friday. Saturday classes in Bowling Green will proceed as scheduled. Economics Admission Requirements

Business Economics program (BS)

Students pursuing a major within the Gordon Ford College of Business must earn a minimum of 60 credit hours with an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.50. In addition, they must complete the admission courses listed below with a separate GPA of 2.50 and complete a minimum of 12 hours at WKU with a minimum GPA of 2.5.

  • CCT 201 - Managerial Accounting
  • CIS 141 - Basic Computer Literacy
  • COMM 161 - Business & Professional Speaking or
  • COMM 145 - Fundamentals of Public Speaking
  • ECON 202 - Principles of Microeconomics
  • ECON 203 - Principles of Macroeconomics
  • ECON 206 - Statistics
  • MATH 116 - College Algebra or higher

Economics program (BA)

Students pursuing a bachelor of arts with a major in economics must earn a minimum of 60 credit hours with an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.00. In addition, they must complete the admission courses listed below with a separate GPA of 2.0 and complete a minimum of 12 hours at WKU with a minimum GPA of 2.0.

  • CIS 141 - Basic Computer Literacy
  • COMM 161 - Business & Professional Speaking or COMM 145 - Fundamentals of Public Speaking
  • ECON 202 - Principles of Microeconomics
  • ECON 203 - Principles of Macroeconomics
  • ECON 206 - Statistics
  • MATH 116 - College Algebra or higher

Mathematical Economics (BS)

Students pursuing a bachelor of science with a major in mathematical economics must earn a minimum of 60 credit hours with an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.0. In addition, they must complete the admission courses listed below with a separate GPA of 2.00 and complete a minimum of 12 hours at WKU with a minimum GPA of 2.0.

  •  MATH 136 - Calculus I
  • ECON 202 - Principles of Economics - Microeconomics
  • ECON 203 - Principles of Economics - Macroeconomics
  • ECON 206 - Business Statistics or MATH 301 - Probability and Applied Statistics
