You will be provided a WKU email account. When taking online courses, it is imperative that you set up your WKU information systems account and check it daily.
If the instructor requires an exam to be proctored: As a WKU Student you have access to the support of the DELO Testing Center to assist you. http://www.wku.edu/testing/
If you do not live within driving distance of the WKU campuses, the testing center staff will locate a site near you.

COMM 145 Fundamentals of Public Speaking and Communication
(Juniors and Seniors only)
Course Description: Fundamentals of Public Speaking and Communication is designed to increase your understanding
of the principles and processes of communicating effectively in a variety of contexts
and to facilitate development of your skills in public communication, listening, group
communication, and interpersonal communication. This is done through a combination
of speaking, listening, writing, and reading assignments. Specifically, you will outline,
develop, and deliver extemporaneous speeches incorporating relevant sources. You will
learn how to develop and deliver messages that are appropriate and effective for the
audience, purpose, and context. The assignments are designed to develop your understanding
and skills progressively throughout the semester. When you leave the course, you should
be sufficiently armed with a basic understanding of public speaking and with an awareness
of other important communication skills so that you can continue to develop effective
communication behaviors throughout your life in a variety of contexts. COMM 145 is
part of the General Education curriculum and fulfills the Public Speaking requirement
(Category A-III).

Other Requirements: A portable webcam with microphone is required for recording your speeches. A laptop camera may not be powerful enough. Other possibilities for recording could be iPhones (but not with the Tegrity app), ipads, digital cameras, and video cameras. The recording should show you from head to toe and clearly record your voice. More instructions will be provided on how to submit your recordings in appropriate formats. 3x5 note cards to use when delivering speeches are also required.
ECON 150 Introduction to Economics
(Juniors and Seniors only)
Course Description: A general introduction to economic concepts, ideas, institutions and methods of analysis with emphasis on the description of economic processes and the functioning if institutions in a market economy. This course carries no credit toward any major or minor offered in the Gordon Ford College of Business.

POLS 110C American National Government
(Juniors and Seniors only)
Course Description: This course will introduce you to the American political system. We will be paying special attention to national politics and political institutions. Throughout the semester, we will examine a variety of topics: formal structure of government and the political system, political behavior/participation, parties and interest groups, the role of media, and policy process. As this is general education course (Category C), we will be looking at a broad overview of the American political process. This course meets a General Education Requirement for Category C.

PSY 100C Introduction to Psychology
(Juniors and Seniors only)
Course Description: Introduction to Psychology is a course designed to provide the curious mind with an introduction to the field of Psychology. Many areas of psychology will be explored including methods of psychology, learning, motivation, social psychology and abnormal behavior.

SOCL 100 Introductory Sociology

Course Description: Introduction to the basic concepts of society and culture, group behavior,population, class, minorities, community, social institutions and social changes. This course meets a General Education Requirement for Category C.
