America has long been a place where many types of people come together and work for freedom and equality for all. Of course we all know that working toward these basic human rights for all people is a never ending struggle -- even in our America. This is YOUR opportunity to join in this struggle here at Western Kentucky University. This event, established in the spring of 2001, was initiated as a campus wide event to celebrate our diversity in gender, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, age, creed, language, and every other difference that is found in the Human Race -- and on our own campus here at WKU! The project, started in 2001 by an undergraduate student by the name of Michael Brockman, has adopted the name "Diversity Rocks!" Last year the event featured local bands and musicians, "Melissa" from the Real World, over 24 booths, and approximately 1,000 visitors throughout the day. This is also a GREAT opportunity to acquaint the campus with YOUR organization! For more information email molly.kerby@wku.edu or call 745-6952. Thank you for your consideration and any support you can give in showing that WKU students know diversity rocks! |
