Mobile Technologies

Mobile content is now easier to create and to use. In fact, “…mobiles are quickly becoming the most affordable portable platform for staying networked on the go. New displays and interfaces make it possible to use mobiles to access almost any Internet content—content that can be delivered over either a broadband cellular network or a local wireless network.” (The Horizon Report, 2008, p. 4).

Western Kentucky University adopted Tegrity Campus 2.0 as the main multimedia content creator. Features of Tegrity Campus 2.0 include the enhanced vodcast function which allows to create a full motion movie of all the information in the session (slides, websites, computer applications, etc.) with the same Tegrity enhanced navigation features that enable students to search the automatically generated chapters while viewing or listening. This function helps faculty to automatically create mobile content for every recorded class.
