Introduction to Excel 2010

Session Format:

4 Hours Total


This course provides the student the foundation needed to utilize a spreadsheet for business applications. Design concepts, databases, charts and macros will be examined thoroughly along with the major built-in functions. Students will design several spreadsheets both in and out of class to solve specific business problems.

  • Getting Started:
    • Understanding the Quick Access Toolbar
    • Backstage View
    • Working with the Ribbon Bar, Tabs and Groups
    • Understanding the Excel Window and Learning what the 7 different shapes of the mouse means in Excel
  • Creating a Workbook with Labels, Values, and Formulas. Entering Data using the AutoFill Handle
  • Introduce the formula auditing Icons

  • Working with Simple Functions. AutoSum, Average, Maximum, Minimum and Date

  • Learning the Additional features of the Auto Fill Handle

  • Saving a Workbook and the different formats to save in

  • Working with Rows and Columns

    • Inserting and Deleting Rows and Columns

    • The Different ways to Adjust the Row Height and Width

  • Working with Worksheets

    • Inserting, Deleting, Naming, Moving and Copying Worksheets

  • Cut, Copying and Pasting Data

  • Formatting a Worksheet and Working with the AutoFormat Command

    • Borders, Shading, Fonts, Currency Formatting, Merge and Center, Aligning Text

    • Clearing Formats

  • Page Layout:

    • Page Orientation, Margins, Scaling, Gridlines

    • Adding Headers and Footers

  • Working with Excel Views

    • Print Layout

    • Page Break Preview- How to Control how the Page Breaks

  • Print Preview and Printing a Workbook, Worksheets

Who Should Attend

This seminar is intended for individuals who are just beginning to use electronic spreadsheets in Excel 2010.
