Introduction to Access 2010

Session Format:

4 Hours Total (One 4–Hour Session)

Introduction

This course addresses the design and maintenance of a database system. Topics of emphasis are writing of data queries, data redundancy and validation, sorting, reporting, and database programming. The student will design, create and manipulate several databases and also write database programs.

Objectives

The participant will learn: (1) introductory relational database design concepts, (2) to create database tables and define primary keys, (3) to create forms for entering, displaying and printing data, (4) to design select queries that will enable the user to choose records, sort records, and combine records from multiple tables, (5) to generate reports from the database, (6) to backup the database, and (7) the benefits of the Access wizards and help topics.

  • Clarify the terminology associated with relational databases
  • Explain the steps necessary to design a database
  • Learn how to create and manipulate a table
  • Comprehend referential integrity conditions and explain how to enforce them
  • Clarify the usage of forms

Who Should Attend

This seminar is intended for individuals with little prior database experience but some with the Microsoft Office products.
