Strings on the HIll June 14-17, 2009
WKU Campus, Bowling Green, KY

Attention 9th through 12th graders....

Come and be a Hilltopper at Western Kentucky University and work with Dr. Anna Cromwell in a fun and challenging three-day workshop for violin, viola, or cello students. This is a great experience for those of you are considering majoring in music in college or who simply love to play your instrument and want to jump start your summer practicing!

This exciting camp will culminate in a concert that your parents and friends can attend.

What to expect:

Players will be matched with other players of their ability. There will be daily master classes so students can perform individually for each other. Daily quartet master classes will also be held, during which Dr. Cromwell will coach the groups. Time will be set aside during the camp for both individul practice and quartet rehearsal.

Registration Information

Space is limited. Only 12 students will be accepted! Please register early!

Please submit a letter of reference containing contact information from your Orchestra Director or pivate strings teacher.

Camp Location

The Camp will be held at the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center (Campus Map).

Housing, Meals, Supervision, & Policy Information

Campers will be housed in an air–conditioned residence hall and will eat all meals except the opening night pizza party in the University dining hall. Campers must bring their own toiletries, sheets, towels, and pillow from home. Camp students will be housed on a two per room basis and they may choose a roommate who is also attending camp. Each student who does not come with a roommate will be paired with someone close to his/her age.

Most meals will be provided and will be served in the Downing University Center which offers a cafeteria-style service that allows campers to eat as much food as they wish at every meal with a wide variety of choices.

While staying in the residence halls, all camp students will be under the careful supervision of the Music Camp Staff.
