Attention 9th through 12th graders....
Come and be a Hilltopper at Western Kentucky University and work with Dr. Michele Fiala in a fun and challenging two–day double reed workshop. This is a great experience for those of you are considering majoring in music in college or who simply love to play your instrument and want to jump start your summer practicing!
This exciting weekend will culminate in a concert that your parents and friends can attend.
What you'll be doing:
- Improve performance on the oboe or the bassoon.
- Gain exposure to reedmaking techniques for the instrument.
- Learn about repertoire for the instruments.
- Collaborate in double reed chamber music.
- Gain exposure to music theory.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
In addition to a working instrument, you will need to bring items to take notes and at least three(3) extra reeds. Dr. Fiala can provide recommendations for purchasing handmade reeds. If you would like to learn how to make your own reeds, contact Dr. Fiala regarding the necessary reedmaking tools.
