Attention 9th through 12th graders....
Come and be a Hilltopper at Western Kentucky University and work with Dr. John Cipolla in a fun and challenging two–day clarinet workshop. This is a great experience for those of you are considering majoring in music in college or who simply love to play your instrument and want to jump start your summer practicing!
This exciting weekend will culminate in a concert that your parents and friends can attend. Dr. Cipolla has worked in New York City as a clarinetist and saxophonist for over 20 years. He has performed with an eclectic array of artists and ensembles and is an engaging teacher and performer.

- tone development
- articulation
- reed adjustment
- practicing
- music theory basics
- sight reading
- blending and tuning in an ensemble
- audition tips
- improvisation
Registration Information
- 2009 Early Registration Deadline & Cost: April 1, 2009 ($185)
- 2009 Regular Registration Deadline & Cost: May 1, 2009 ($225)
Late applications will be accepted on the basis of available space.
Please submit an audition tape or CD with registration form. Audition music is requested so camp coordinator can better prepare before your arrival. Please be sure to include the completed consent form as well!
Camp Location
The Camp will be held at the Ivan Wilson Fine Arts Center (Campus Map).
Housing, Meals, Supervision, & Policy Information
Campers will be housed in an air–conditioned residence hall and will eat all meals (except the opening night pizza party) in the University dining hall. Campers must bring their own toiletries, sheets, towels, and pillow from home. Camp students will be housed on a two per room basis and they may choose a roommate who is also attending camp. Each student who does not come with a roommate will be paired with someone close to his/her age.
Meals will be provided and will be served in the Downing University Center which offers a cafeteria-style service that allows campers to eat as much food as they wish at every meal with a wide variety of choices.
While staying in the residence halls, all camp students will be under the careful supervision of the Music Camp Staff.

Cancellations and Refunds
You may cancel your registration for the Music Camp and receive a refund less a processing fee if the request is made prior to May 15, 2009. No money will be refunded after May 15. Students arriving late for camp or leaving early are not eligible for any monetary compensation.
