Online Physical Education Teacher Education Concentration

We are excited to offer you our Master of Science in Physical Education–Teacher Education–100% online! The Master of Science in Physical Education–Teacher Education option is a 33 hour distance learning program that focuses on the skills necessary to teach Physical Education.

This program meets the Kentucky Teacher Requirements for Advanced Teaching Standards and the Rank II Certification. This program is designed for those students who have previously completed an initial teacher certification; however, if you do not have a teaching certificate, you may still pursue this concentration.

Teachers outside of the state of Kentucky may also be able to participate in this program. We encourage you to check with your State Board of Education to determine applicability of the program in meeting your professional development goals.

Program components:

  • Focuses on theoretical aspects of teaching elementary and secondary physical education
  • Designed for those students who have previously completed an initial teacher certification
  • Kentucky teachers will qualify for the Rank II standing
  • Program consists of 33 semester hours
  • Students begin each semester with a recommended two–year completion date
  • Students are allowed to register for 6 hours for the fall, spring, and summer semesters with one semester requirement of 9 hours
