Two Public Health Alumnae Receive Awards from ACHCA

ACHCA is the professional society representing the interests of long term care administrators throughout North America.
At the Annual District Meeting of the American College of Health Care Administrators in March (MI-IN-OH-KY-WV), two members with WKU’s HAS program connections received awards:
- Alumna Heather O’Banion, an MHA graduate and current Executive Director of Village Manor Retirement Community in Bowling Green, was recognized as the Kentucky Chapter’s “New Administrator of the Year.”
- Alumna and Department of Public Health Faculty Member, Melanie Eaton, received the Kentucky Chapter’s “Distinguished Service to ACHCA Award” for her leadership in involving WKU students in the professional society for long term care administrators.

Many hospitalizations are preventable and may be to blame for the rising American health care costs, according to new research out of Western Kentucky University.
The Master of Health Administration (MHA) program competed in the 21st annual Everett V. Fox Student Case Competition hosted by the National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) held in Las Vegas, NV.
Early Childhood Education Degrees has recently ranked Western Kentucky University's Communication Sciences and Disorders' online Master's in Speech Language Pathology as one of the ten best programs of its kind in the nation.
