Event: Strategies for Handling Workplace Conflicts

The realities of the workplace environment can cause tension between employers and employees, co-workers, students and faculty, and even between nurses and their patients. Often, the problems are related to differences in expectations between people of different cultures or generations. To help us learn to effectively handle these workplace conflicts, WKU's School of Nursing, Greenview Regional Hospital, and South Central Kentucky AHEC will host an all day workshop on May 8th, 2009th. This continuing education program will be held the Sloan Convention Center, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, so that community members as well as the campus community can participate. Registered Nurses, nursing students, and other professionals working in clinical or academic settings are invited.

Dr. Phyllis Kritek, RN, Ph.D., FANN, an internationally recognized expert in alternative dispute resolution, will lead this workshop with a focus on disruptive behavior, lateral violence and alternative dispute resolution. Using a format interspersed with time for practice of the new skills provided; this program emphasizes practical solutions to common and persistent workplace issues.
