Belize Service Learning Symposium

The WKU, CHHS, International Health and Human Service Learning Program will host its first annual Belize Service Learning Symposium on Monday, March 2nd at 3:00 p.m. in DUC 340. This year’s theme is “You Better Belize It”.  Presentations and posters will address service learning in the village of Gales Point, Belize, opportunities for students, nursing and dental service learning, environmental health service learning and water quality, environmental policy, public health, and perceptions of water quality and management.

Students from the departments of Allied Health, Public Health, Political Science and the School of Nursing will speak about their experiences in Belize, including reflective learning.  Faculty will be available to answer questions and discuss program details.  The symposium will conclude with a poster session.

A card reader will be available at this event to record student attendance.  Please join us as we share our service learning experiences in Belize.  Light refreshments will be served.  If you have questions regarding the symposium please contact Dr. Ritchie Taylor at ritchie.taylor@wku.edu.

On October 20, 2008, 13 graduate students enrolled in Fall 2008 Air Quality Management class undertook a field trip to “Trace Die Cast” in Bowling Green.
