WKU AGING EXPERT TO PRESENT WARNINGS SIGNS of DEMENTIA


Dementia, a name used to identify a number of health conditions, is rising as the population ages. Caregivers in the Bowling Green region will have the opportunity to learn firsthand what experts know and don't know about dementia. Dr. Dana Burr Bradley, Director of the Center for Gerontology, is participating in a Family Caregiver Workshop on February 17, 2008. Sponsored by The Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, the workshop will be held from 10:00am-2:00pm at the Barren River Area Development District. Designed for non-professional caregivers, Dr. Bradley will discuss why dementias are increasing and offer best practices for caregivers based on cutting edge dementia research. She will be joined by Ms. Catherine Delpont, Community Education Coordinator for the Alzheimer's Association who will talk about Home Safety Issues and Mr. Franklin Berry with Berry Law Office, who will discuss current Legal Issues and Aging. .

There is a $15.00 fee to enroll for this workshop. The fee will provide lunch and materials to participants. Interested people MUST pre-register no later that Monday February 16, 2009. To register call 1-800-272-3900.
