This is an interdisciplinary program between the Departments of Consumer and Family Sciences and Physical Education and Recreation. The minor will be located in the office of the Dean, CEBS and the formal advisement role will rotate between CFS and REC every four years.
Requirements (12 hours)
CFS 271 – Tourism Planning and Development – 3 hours
MKT 320 – Basic Marketing Concepts – 3 hours
REC 420 – Commercial Recreation and Tourism – 3 hours
REC 490/CFS313 – Internship/Practicum in Tourism – 3 hours
Restrictive Electives (9 hours)
CFS 171 – Introduction to Management in the Hospitality Industry – 3 hours
CFS 373 – Tourism and Destination Marketing – 3 hours
CFS 375 – Meeting and Convention Management – 3 hours
REC 302 – Recreation Leadership – 3 hours
REC 322 – Recreation Activity Facilitation – 3 hours
REC 404 – Recreation Facility Management – 3 hours
*Each student must take a minimum of 9 hours in Recreation and 9 hours in CFS
