I am Deborah Williams, and I have taught at WKU for 24 years. During that time, I have taught in the Associate Degree, Prelicensure Baccalaureate, and Post-RN programs. For the majority of that time, I have taught mental health nursing. Other courses that I have taught are Health Promotion, Professional Issues, and Nursing Practicum. I served as Coordinator of the Prelicensure Program for approximately 10 years.

I have an Associate Degree in Nursing and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from WKU. I completed the MSN degree at Vanderbilt University, and a doctorate in higher education administration in the University of Louisville/WKU cooperative doctoral program.

My clinical experience has included medical-surgical nursing, long-term care, administration in long-term care, inpatient psychiatric nursing and out-patient mental health. In the out-patient community mental health setting, I worked as a therapist with acutely and chronically mentally ill clients and also served as Center Coordinator.

I have published numerous test questions in a variety of NCLEX review books, authored/co-authored journal articles on several topics related to nursing, authored/co-authored computer assisted instructional programs, and most recently, authored an on-line psychiatric nursing review course.

Professional organizations of which I am a member are the American Nurses Association, Kentucky Nurses Association, and Sigma Theta Tau.
