Human Performance Lab

Print this page
As a result of the recent $49 million renovation, the Exercise Science program now enjoys a state-of-the-art human performance laboratory in which the faculty conduct research and teach.  Listed below is a summary of our laboratory resources.

Biomechanical analysis equipment, including motion analysis software, high-speed cameras, and two force plates.

Biochemical analysis equipment, including a flow cytometer, multiple centrifuges, a microplate reader, an ultra-low freezer and refrigerator for blood sample storage, a YSI lactate analyzer, and an Analox GM-7 blood analyzer.

Clinical exercise physiology equipment, including a treadmill with an exercise ECG computer interface and a resting ECG device.

The lab also contains three treadmills (in addition to the exercise ECG treadmill), seven Monark cycles, Wingate power analysis software, a multi-stack resistance training module, a Vacumed Mini-Vista CPX metabolic analysis system, and a wall-mounted monitor on which we project data to aid in teaching.  In addition to the equipment listed, we are currently searching for funds to add a hydrostatic weighing system and/or DEXA for body composition measurement and research.
