Welcome to the Department of Allied Health at Western Kentucky University. We hope you enjoy your visit with us.


Allied Health is defined as all the professional, technical and supportive workers in patient care, public health and health research. Allied Health professions encompass a wide distribution of personnel with various levels of health education and training, which enables them to function as a member of the health care team.

The Department of Allied Health offers an associate of science degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene. This curricular program is designed to fulfill needs of the student.


Enrollment in the dental hygiene program is limited. Special admission information and other special rules, standards and requirements as well as specific program information can be obtained by clicking on the appropriate program link.

The Department of Public Health began moving from Science and Technology Hall during the spring term of 2007. Initially moving into Garret Conference Center, the Department now occupies remodeled offices located in the old Student Health Services area within Academic Complex. This space became available when Student Health moved to their new building. The Department should have the move completed by the beginning of the fall 2008 term
