Personal Statement Review

Many professional school applications require a personal statement.  Most students procrastinate writing their personal statement because they think it will not be difficult.  In fact, it is very difficult to write a good personal statement.

Your personal statement should be about YOU.  It should explain your interest in the professional career you have chosen and give the admissions committee reasons to grant you a personal interview.  Use your personal statement to tell the admissions committee things not included in other parts of your application.

You should have at least three or four people from different backgrounds read and critique your personal statement.  At least one of these people should be qualified to critique your personal statement from a grammatical perspective.

The South Central AHEC will  review and critique your personal statement.  If you would like to have your personal statement reviewed and critiqued, please e-mail a copy of your personal statement to Lucy Juett, Director, South Central AHEC at lucy.juett@wku.edu.  You should allow at least one week for this review and critique.
