Stipend
StipendThe Commonwealth of Kentucky recognizes the need to recruit and retain health care professionals in rural and underserved areas. One of the ways this is addressed is through clinical education rotations in rural and underserved areas. These rotations provide students and residents an opportunity to learn about the needs for health care providers in rural and underserved areas of Kentucky. Some students and residents may choose to practice in these areas as a result of this experience. But for those who don’t, these clinical rotations are a valuable learning experience.
The Commonwealth of Kentucky also recognizes the additional expense to students and residents who are required to participate in off site clinical education rotations. In an effort to offset these additional expenses, a stipend will be provided through the AHEC. This stipend is based on the following formula:
♦ $70 per week for housing
♦ $40 per week for food
♦ 1 round trip from Louisville to Bowling Green based on the state mileage chart of 240 miles at a rate of .35 per mile or $84 per round trip
♦ round trip mileage will also be paid for any required trip back to Louisville during this rotation
♦ You will receive this stipend check before the end of your rotation
